Okanagan Festival of Ale

The Okanagan Fest of Ale was established in 1996, making it one of the largest and longest running annual beer festivals in the Pacific Northwest. The board of directors is highly organized and put a lot of care and attention into making the festival a great time for all.
Always a spectacular event with a large number of Breweries from around the Province. Lots of food to eat, beer to sample, some games to play and some prizes to win. There are several live bands performing at different times throughout the day, and its might be a good idea to bring your dancing shoes if you are so inclined.
There are A LOT of breweries that participate in this festival. So many that there is both an indoors and outdoors setting. You will find most of the food outside…mostly because many happen to be food trucks and they don’t fit indoors all that well. You will also find a music stage and several beer tents outside as well. Weather in April is usually pretty decent, and has been known to get to 28 degrees or so. It just depends.
The indoor venue is jam-packed with beer tents and several food and merchandise vendors. In the center of the room is a main stage. In the corners of the large venue are smaller stages for musicians to perform while the main stages is taking a break. So there is always something going on somewhere.
Sometimes it is best to get a weekend pass so you can take your time sampling the many different types of beer and ciders available. There is so much available to taste, it is very difficult to remember it all in just one session.
It’s also a good idea to bring a notebook to write down the ones you really enjoyed. After awhile, it is quite easy to forget. Some booths have coasters and cards you can collect to help jog your memory, but the better notes you take the happier you will be the next time you go to the store to find that favorite beer.
Something to note: City Bus Transportation is free during this event. You will simply need to show your festival ticket to the bus driver. Check the bus schedule online before you depart.
