Penticton Beer Run

Saturday June 7, 2025

Wave (Shuttle) Start Times: 9 – 11:30 AM

Check-in is at Okanagan Lake Park

This 9th annual beer run covers approximately 7 km that you can either run or walk. Start times are staggered so not everyone is at the same place at the same time. The idea is to sample beers along the way until you get to the finish line. The Starting point is out at the Abandoned Rail pub. A scheduled shuttle bus will take you to this point. From there, after sampling some beers, you will meander your way back toward the City of Penticton along the Kettle Valley Railway Trail, sampling beers along the way.

The KVR Trail is an old railway bed that is now enjoyed pretty much year-round by hikers, bikers and dog walkers. It has a nice solid gravel base with plenty of room for all to enjoy. And the scenery is fantastic. The walk (run) from the Abandoned Rail Pub along the KVR Trail to Penticton is roughly 4 km. Along the way, several breweries will set up stations for participants to take a break and sample some more beers.

Once groups get into town, there are several participating brew pubs with very convenient locations. For example, the Cannery and Highway 97 are literally across the street from one another. Neighbourhood Brewing and Slackwater are not all that far away from there.

From the Website: “Tastings are from the Barley Mill, Cannery, Tin Whistle, Neighbourhood, Slackwater, Highway 97, Firehall, Giant’s Head, Yellow Dog, Detonate and Abandoned Railway are included. New breweries & eateries will be announced on route in 2025 as well!”

  • Minimum of 11 Brewery tastings along a stunning course
  • Eatery stops & water on route
  • Beer Run Swag Item
  • A beer at the finish line
  • DJ & awesome finish line party!

The question some ask is, how far is 7 km? How long does an average person out for a walk take to go 7km? Google says it takes about 90 minutes to walk 7km. Half that if you run. Keep in mind, nobody is walking (or running) for 90 minutes straight. There are 10 or 11 stops along the way. So, let’s say each “leg” of the “run” is 10 minutes or so. Quite manageable. After a beer or two, a 10 minute walk really doesn’t seem to take that long at all. And it’s great exercise!
